Karekare Auckland beach

  1. It’s Auckland’s most spectacular beaches and there is wilderness areas.
  2. Swimming people are only to swim between the flags.
  3. In 1993 heaps of people talked about the beautiful black sand.
  4. Karekare has some of New Zealand’s finest painters.

    I'm really sorry that my previous comment for this blog did not post properly! Please know that I read your post and wrote back right away, however, it must not have worked properly. I commented on this post right away because I was so excited to see that you had written about Karekare beach. It is my 'all-time' favourite beach in New Zealand. I absolutely love black sand. Have you ever been out to Karekare? It is well worth the trip (in my opinion)!

    It takes about 30-40 minutes to drive to Karekare from central Auckland. To get there you have to drive west and follow signs for Piha. Karekare is the on the left hand side of the road, about 4 km before you get to Piha. I try to go to Karekare as often as I can so that I can walk along the beach and look back at the amazing cliffs. It is a pretty mystical and magical looking area, particularly in the middle of winter when it is misty and quite cloudy...

    I really hope that you are able to Karekare one day with your family!
